The Auckland Project – Spanish Gallery

Marcon were appointed deliver the fit-out of a former bank and school building near Auckland Castle in County Durham to create a new Spanish art gallery.

The Spanish Gallery is split into 15 exhibition areas spread over three floors, creating almost 6,000 sq ft of exhibition space.

It displays artworks from the medieval period onwards, with particular emphasis on the 16th and 17th century Spanish Golden Age. As the Spanish empire expanded across five continents, the fine arts, literature, and music flourished in the Iberian Peninsula and is one of the glories of art throughout the world.

Marcon were responsible for the manufacture and installation of all bespoke joinery works and specialist fit out elements ranging from CNC engraved valchromat panels, suspended voile drapes and decorative wall panelling to translucent Corian Onyx back-lit plinths, curved metal work and infinity mirrors.
