Marcon were appointed as Principal Contractor for the fit out of the National Famine Museum.

The re-imagined National Famine Museum tells the complete story of the Great Famine in a compelling manner and explores the parallel lives of Strokestown Park’s landlords and their tenants providing an immersive and emotional visitor experience for both domestic and international audiences.

The new exhibition is spread throughout Zones 1 to 11 and the visitor orientation & arrival space.

The exhibition uses rich archival collections to powerfully illustrate the specific story of Strokestown. Audio-visual materials, including sound, projections, and lighting displays add deeper engagement to exhibition spaces and highlight some of the unique and incredibly precious artefacts.

  • Ceiling canopy with integrated lightbox & LED Strip lighting
