Changing Ireland Gallery
Changing Ireland Gallery
Marcon were appointed Principal fit-out contractor for the new permanent 20th Century Gallery, Changing Ireland at Collins Barracks, Dublin.
Works involved the full construction and installation of the gallery within a building of major historical significance, in full compliance with strict heritage regulations to preserve the site’s integrity. The exhibition offers an immersive journey through Ireland’s 20th-century history (1900–2020), highlighting pivotal events, cultural developments, and societal transformations. Key themes include Ireland’s path to independence, the formation of the Irish Republic, and broader social and political change.
Marcon were responsible for the delivery of all aspects of the gallery fit-out, including contractor-led design, off-site fabrication, and on-site installation of exhibition setworks, electrical and lighting systems, graphics, and interactive and digital elements. The scope also included small power and data distribution, specialist object mounts, and audio-visual components.
The gallery now provides visitors with an engaging, informative, and impactful experience, reflecting the dynamic story of Ireland throughout the 20th century.
