Poole Museum

Poole Museum

Marcon were appointed Principal fit out contractor for the new maritime galleries at the redeveloped Poole Museum.

Works involved the exhibition fit out of the ground and first floors of the Grade 2 listed Oakley’s Mill and Grade 1 listed Wool Hall to create 3 new maritime galleries Harbour Life, Setting Sail, and Shipwreck.

We were responsible for the design implementation and installation of the museum’s new galleries and display environments within these historic buildings, including co-ordination with client direct packages for showcases and mounts and co-ordination of client artefact installations which included an Iron Age log boat.

The museum remained partially operational throughout the works. A phased handover approach was adopted, with the retail area completed and opened in July. The final gallery installations are nearing completion, with handover scheduled for next week. Throughout the project, Marcon worked diligently to minimise disruption to museum staff and visitors, maintaining high health and safety standards.
