Project Overview
Belfast City Hall is a major visitor attraction within the City for both locals and tourists alike.
Marcon were appointed as Principal Contractor for the visitor-led exhibition fit-out which charts the history of the city from a quiet hamlet to the vibrant, innovative, attractive city it is today.
This self-guided exhibition was designed to facilitate effective and efficient flow of visitor traffic. It takes up the ground floor of the City Hall’s east wing and is composed of 18 rooms organised into 5 themed zones
- The City Governing
- The City at Work & Play
- The City Speaks and its Streets
- The City Commemorates
- The City Celebrates
The space covers everything from the local dialect to street games, how the winds of rebellion in the late 18th century swept across the province, the importance of manufacturing and shipbuilding industries, the rise of trade unions, the First and Second World War, the Blitz, and the emergence from ‘The ‘Troubles’ to the city Belfast is today.
The exhibition was given the title ‘Belfast City Hall for All’.
